Bloody Omaha

This is a short film showing how the landing scene was created for BBC2's Timewatch episode, Bloody Omaha, about the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach. The opening sequence refers to Spielberg's use of 1000 extras (as many as 1,500 by some accounts) to accomplish his portrayal of the landing in Saving Private Ryan (the most horrifying 24 minutes on film, in my opinion). Timewatch made do with 3 graphic designers, a carload of gear, a Z1 camera and a greenscreen. Very cool work.
